Linfield’s Laws: The Three Laws of Writing

LAW OF INTEREST
Always find a way to be interested
in any subject you have to write about.
Never write about anything you’re not interested in.

2. LAW OF QUANTITY
Always start by writing
as fast as you can, as much as you can.
For your first draft, write at least twice as many words as are required.
Then edit it down to the required length.

3. LAW OF EDITING
Spend at least three times
as much time editing as writing.
Editing is not just proofreading or looking for mistakes. It's looking for good points and making them better, adding new ideas, deleting ideas, and changing the order in which you present your points. In editing, you make sure you have a strong beginning and an interesting ending.
“Writing is not writing.
Editing is writing.”
